Supporter Membership (£50/year)

Who can join: Individuals or organizations.

Benefits:

  • Receive our newsletter with updates, insights, and exclusive news.
  • Recommend one participant per year, either yourself or individuals from your network, who would benefit the most from our training.
  • Suggest potential training topics that JournoTECH may consider organising.
  • Access to the general Slack channel for paid subscribers to share and exchange ideas.

Champion Membership (£300/year)

Who can join: Individuals or organizations.

Benefits:

  • All benefits of free and supporter memberships.
  • Exclusive early access to details of upcoming training sessions (both in-person and virtual).
  • Recommend four participants per year (one per quarter), either yourself or individuals from your network, who would benefit the most from our training.
  • Propose new training topics and initiatives for JournoTECH to consider.
  • Join a private communication channel to network with other Champion members.
  • Share opportunities (partnerships, grants, etc.) that JournoTECH can pursue.
  • Access to the general Slack channel for paid subscribers and a dedicated Champion Slack channel for deeper discussions and exclusive networking.
  • Be featured as a key supporter on the JournoTECH website, social media platforms and in newsletters.
  • Be part of our conference either either in-person or online(if applicable).

Founder’s Circle Membership (£500/year)

Who can join: Individuals or organizations.

Benefits:

  • All benefits of free, supporter, and champion memberships.
  • Direct access to JournoTECH leadership for input, discussions, and collaboration on key projects.
  • Opportunity to co-design a custom training program with JournoTECH for a target audience of your choice (within limits).
  • Invitation to exclusive VIP networking events (virtual or in-person).
  • Recommend up to six participants per year, either yourself or individuals from your network, who would benefit the most from our training. (one every two months).
  • Suggest and recommend grant opportunities with your idea that JournoTECH can pursue. Participate in the grant writing and proposal process with the option to contribute your expertise. If the grant is awarded, you will be part of its execution process where necessary and, if accepted, receive payment for your time, support, and activities related to the grant.
  • Share your organisation’s courses or training materials to be used in JournoTECH programs if they align with our training objectives.
  • Be featured as a key supporter on the JournoTECH website, social media platforms and in newsletters.
  • Members will have access to the general Slack channel and a dedicated Founder’s Circle Slack channel, where they can share exclusive opportunities, ideas, and solutions. They will also have the opportunity to showcase their organization’s work in the Slack channels.
  • Be part of our conference either either in-person or online(if applicable).

How We Use Membership Funds

Membership contributions will be used to:

  1. Provide Training: Deliver high-quality training programs (either in-person or online) that align with JournoTECH’s mission, depending on available funds. Cover costs such as subscriptions to online meeting platforms and internet subscriptions to support participants in need, break down financial barriers to learning and growth, and facilitator fees (if applicable).
  2. Offer Small Grants: Support participants of our programs by offering small grants to enhance their learning and career development.
  3. Support Participation in Global and Local Events: Provide financial assistance for participants to attend relevant training and events, locally and globally.

Application and Priority Process

All participants of our programs will need to apply officially to be considered for training or grant opportunities.

  • Priority will be given to:
    1. Paying members of JournoTECH.
    2. Selected participants who are funding their participation in our services.
  • For training funded by grants from reputable organisations, all applicants will be evaluated equally based on merit to ensure fairness and inclusivity.
  • Paid members will have the opportunity to recommend grant training opportunities to as many people within and outside their networks as they wish, though selection will still be based on merit.

Slack Channels for Paid Members

  1. All paid subscribers will be invited to join our general Slack channel, where ideas and solutions related to JournoTECH’s work will be shared.
  2. Members will have the opportunity to share their organisation’s work within the Slack community.
  3. In addition to the general channel, each paid tier will have its dedicated Slack channel for exclusive networking and tailored discussions:
    • Supporter Slack Channel
    • Champion Slack Channel
    • Founder’s Circle Slack Channel

Important Disclaimers for Members

While Founder’s Circle members enjoy exclusive benefits, membership does not confer organisational control or representation rights. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  1. Membership does not make you a shareholder in The Colonist Report UK, The Colonist Report Africa, JournoTECH, or any entity under The Colonist International Ltd. or The Colonist Africa Ltd.
  2. Members do not have decision-making authority regarding the management, strategy, or operations of any of the mentioned organizations.
  3. Members may not call themselves staff, employees, or representatives of JournoTECH, The Colonist Report UK, The Colonist Report Africa, or any other entity under The Colonist International Ltd. and The Colonist Africa Ltd., unless explicitly authorised by the organisation’s founder or core management team (which must include the founder).
  4. Members are prohibited from representing any of the organisations in any capacity without prior written permission.

Membership Rights for All Members (Paid or Unpaid)

  1. All members (whether paid or unpaid) have the right to cancel their membership at any time by notifying the organisation.
  2. Members can raise concerns or suggestions related to the growth, credibility, or reputation of the organisation.
    • These concerns can be discussed by email or phone call with the management team.

Membership Terms and Conditions

Membership Review and Acceptance

  1. All membership applications are subject to review before acceptance.
  2. JournoTECH reserves the right to reject any membership application that does not align with the values, rules, and laws of the organization.
  3. In cases where a membership is rejected, the membership fee will be fully refunded to the applicant.

Membership Conduct and Compliance

  1. All members are expected to adhere to the rules and laws of the organization as outlined in this document.
  2. JournoTECH reserves the right to terminate a membership if a member fails to comply with these rules or engages in actions that harm the organization’s credibility, reputation, or mission.
  3. In the event of termination due to non-compliance, refunds may not be issued, depending on the circumstances of the violation.

Discontinuation of Paid Membership

JournoTECH may discontinue paid memberships if there is a significant shift in funding, such as securing multiple grants to support the organisation’s activities, as it would not be ethical or necessary to continue collecting membership fees when activities are fully and legally funded through grants. In such cases, paid members will be notified in advance, and if appropriate, refunds will be issued for any unused portion of the membership fee. To ensure continued engagement and benefits for paid members who have supported its vision, JournoTECH may develop a structured program that invites members to provide recommendations and collaboration ideas to further support its activities. The organisation may also explore opportunities for paid members to remain involved in its initiatives, fostering an ongoing connection to its mission.

  • By applying for membership, you agree to abide by JournoTECH’s rules, values, and principles.
  • Membership is a privilege, and all members are expected to contribute positively to the community.
