At the core of JournoTECH is our mandate to bridge the gap by empowering people with AI and tech skills.
Our first training, conducted online, included 15 journalists from seven countries, including participants in the UK and Nigeria, where we are registered.
“Prior to the training, I didn’t know that you could transcribe audio or video; I learnt how to do it now. I also learnt specific commands when directing AI to give you the required result.” Mustapha Gambo Muhammad, Editor, Radio Nigeria Pyramid FM Kano.
“I really enjoyed the module on prompt engineering for journalists. It will allow me to use AI tools responsibly to do anything in the course of my work. This training will have a big impact on my work. It has enabled me to learn how to use several AI tools such as Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT,”Tapsoba Issouf, Reporter, La Tribune du Faso, Burkina Faso.
“The training was very important to me because I had to get deeper into certain tools that I had a little knowledge about. For instance, I have always used ChatGPT and Copilot, but I was not aware that they can create images and infographics. The training is going to help me a lot, as I like to enhance my storytelling with some infographics and explainers, and knowing how to use these tools is going to make my work a little bit easier…” Retselisitsoe Khabo, Multimedia Editor, MNN Centre for Investigative Journalism
