JournoTECH Partners with Voluntary Action Harrow to Deliver Free AI Awareness Training for Communities

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming part of everyday life. From the way we search for information to the messages we receive online, AI is changing how we work, communicate, and make decisions. While these technologies offer exciting opportunities, they also introduce new challenges, including misinformation, deepfakes, scams, and growing concerns about privacy and the environment.

To help people better understand these changes, JournoTECH is pleased to partner with Voluntary Action Harrow (VAH), a nonprofit organization that supports charities, community groups, volunteers, and residents across the London Borough of Harrow, to deliver a free online community workshop on Understanding Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The workshop will take place on Thursday, 3 September 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (BST) via Zoom and is open to anyone who wants to build practical knowledge of AI in an accessible and supportive environment.

During the session, participants will explore what AI is, how it is already shaping everyday life, and how to recognise AI-generated misinformation, deepfakes, and voice cloning. We will also discuss practical ways to protect ourselves and our families from AI-enabled scams and fraud, use AI safely and responsibly, and consider the environmental impact of AI technologies.

Rather than focusing only on theory, the workshop is designed to be highly interactive. Through real-world examples, discussions, and practical exercises, participants will gain the confidence to understand AI, identify potential risks, and make informed decisions about using these technologies in their daily lives.

At JournoTECH, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to understand emerging technologies, regardless of their background or technical experience.
